Responsibilities for Repairs

With just a few exceptions, most major and structural repairs will be the responsibility of the landlord and most minor repairs will be the tenant's responsibility.
Here are different ways to get repairs done, depending on whether you rent privately or from a council or housing assotiation.
Information about responsibility for repairs may be included in your tenancy agreement.
Whatever it says in your tenancy agreement, most major and structural repairs will be the responsibility of the landlord, and your home should be safe and secure and fit to live in.
Get advice if you’re not sure which repairs your landlord is responsible for, or if your landlord tells you they won't do repairs.
